STORY BEHIND THE DISH:

 


INGREDIENTS:
1/2 yeast cake or 1/2 pkg dry yeast
1 egg
1-1/4 cup sweet milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbs shortening
2 or 3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
cinnamon

DIRECTIONS:

Dissolve yeast in sweet milk. Add shortening, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Add enough flour to be able to handle with a spoon. Beat well. Let stand to rise about 3 hours.

Put into about a 8 x 10 pan or 8 x 12 pan. Let rise 2nd time about 1 or 2 hours. Put butter, sugar, and cinnamon on top. Bake at 350 deg F about 1/2 hour.
